Beach and Mountains - biking weekend

Great weather still through to end of November so we decided we would have one last short break on the motorbikes. Heading north, towards of Girona and then a bit further on towards the french border, our first stop was beachside in Llafranc. Stunningly beautiful, an awesome coast walk to nearby Palafrugell where there was more choice of restaurants and bars and brilliant weather!

The next morning we took a ‘hard left’ into the Spanish Pyrenees, the winter colours were incredible. We went via the medieval village of Rupit which had a lovely cafe for a hot drink and sandwich and then onto our next overnight destination Castelfollit de la Roca.

Both Rupit and Castellfollit were places that I had read about and ‘saved’ on Google maps for a trip as they both looked really interesting. Castellfollit is bordered by the confluence of two rivers and the town sits on a basalt cliff. The cliff is over 50 metres high x 1 km long and was formed by the overlaying of two lava flows.

Such a fabulous and diverse three days/two nights out and about all within 3 hours of Barcelona.
