Barcelona, Menorca and Toulouse

March and April back in Barcelona were a daily routine of medical appointments and physio sessions. But started to intersperse some short trips to stay sane and have some company during a challenging time.

TOULOUSE - early March

Only one week back from Guatemala and desperately needed a bit of support, company and friendly faces so the 6 hours bus ride seemed well worth it to Toulouse to stay with Jane and Antoine. Celebrating my getting there and their daughter' Emma’s new job in Paris, what a great weekend which brought the smile back.

Friend Gilles came to visit a couple of weeks later, mid March - quick trip from Paris to see if I was doing OK. Just nice to have dinner with someone and a big walk up to the Castle.

MENORCA - end of March

With the regular physio session I had started to get mobility back into my arm although couldn’t really do anything with it in terms of carrying a bag or putting my back pack on. But with a new learned skill of ‘patience’ (at the ripe old age of 58) I started getting more accustomed to going slow. The very cheap trip to Menorca for 5 days was just what I needed. Great apartment in a little bar / restaurant, on the waterfront of Fornells. Loads of hikes from the doorstep and amazing weather.

Menorca - just amazing and right on our doorstep here from Barcelona. I will be back (in off season again!)

Not bad for only a month in after the surgery.

ROQUEFEUIL, FRANCE - mid April

I laid low over Easter (read that as started getting really bored)… so used it as useful contemplating my navel time…which resulted in me deciding I am going to sell my French place. Nearly 20 years on - having learnt so much DIY, met so many lovely people, had many visitors, lived french life and loved the peaceful village with gorgeous views…I’m still not really sure I want to sell. Just no real benefit any more in keeping it….so decision made, the following week, it was time to hire a car and drive up there, to clear it out a bit ready for the sale process to start. Not ideal doing a run to the tip, with a load of household rubbish with one arm and trying to not scratch a hire car….but success!!

Once back in Barcelona I tried to keep active…have you ever seen an empty spin class?? I mean, anywhere, never mind in a big city like Barcelona?! My search for company failed!!

MORECAMBE & COVENTRY, UK - next week
Family and friends trip to the UK. Looking forward!
