Soller, Mallorca - Housesit
Further to returning from the Granada sit, I had all of 2 nights back at (Barcelona) home, before heading off to North Wales for a week to spend time with family and care for my elderly Aunt. From there I took a direct flight from Manchester to Palma, Mallorca to meet Andrew for our last, relatively short (10 day) housesit of the year. And boy, did we finish 2022 on a high!
We had a quick hour handover with the lovely homeowners before they jetted back to where I had just come from and they left us with their incredible home and the most chill Mr Bones (who became Mr B for our stay) and Fifi. Dogs don’t come much more chillaxed than these two. In fact the whole sit, location, home, weather, hikes, beach, dogs was just perfect in every way - we even had a Christmas Tree!.
We really loved this sit and indeed Soller. We could easily use public transport to get around, hike mountains and marked trails from the doorstep but also get to the beach and Soller Port within a half hour walk. The dogs were cuddly, well behaved when we walked but also good at being left for a while, allowing us to do some longer trips around the local area. At night Soller church and main square were decorated ready for the festive events, with coffee shops right on the square and Christmas markets, the shopping and town atmosphere was a delight.
We had a quiet Christmas Day and then took the bus back to the airport on Boxing Day to pick up a hire car for a few days. This enabled us to have a couple of days further afield towards the end of the sit and get across to the other side of the island that we hadn’t visited yet, easily dropping the car back then at the airport when we left.
