Near Shrewsbury - Housesit
Our final UK housesit (at least for this year!) was …near Shrewsbury… on the mid Wales/UK border. What a way to finish!
Thanks to Dave (brother) we went ‘the scenic route’ to get there and had an overnight stop in Wales The sun was finally out and the roads were amazing. We arrived at the sit location in time for lunch prior to the home owners departure so they could give us the low down on the ewes. rams, lambs and 1 chicken before their imminent departure.
The housesit location was once again stunning. The lambs were a great learning curve for us, one of them just could not understand that the green really was not greener on the other side of the fence - as we spent every morning and evening rescuing him from getting his head stuck in the fence.
As the weather was so much better we also got out and did some fabulous riding and a short walk one day up Stiperstones, right outside our back door, literally, when it was a bit wetter.
Once finished it was time to head back to Barcelona. But not before a final family visit to see Aunty Freda (Mum’s sister) and Uncle Al with the added bonus of catching cousin Nigel. It was the final push to the ferry via Devizes to see them all. Finally back at Portsmouth we had decided for the easy option of the Portsmouth-Bilbao overnight ferry (LNG powered no less!!). It was fabulous and by this time nothing could dampen our spirits, another 650kms later via some amazing roads in the north of Spain we made it back to Barcelona. Time to give the bikes (and us!) a rest!!
